Kristin “Dee Dee” Welchez’s first album under the Dum Dum Girls banner goes straight to the core of the project: old-fashioned garage rock cut through with a dark, modern sheen. Tracks like “Bhang Bhang, I’m a Burnout” and “Jail La La” find one of the most satisfying balances between bouncy retro-pop and ear-piercing noise since The Jesus and Mary Chain released Psychocandy, albeit with a sharp, confident femininity that's pure Dum Dum Girls.
