Album: Lucy Ford: The Atmosphere EP's by Atmosphere (2001)
Genre: Hip-Hop | Style: Urban/R&B | Mood: Reflective
Record Label: Rhymesayers
Format: Album

Description: Compiling three EPs from 1998 and 1999, Atmosphere’s de facto debut album as a duo pairs Minnesota rapper Slug’s novelistic eye with Ant’s knack for spare, jazzy boom bap. “Between the Lines” brings a deceptively relaxed Rhodes groove to intertwined character studies, while “Like Today” is a vivid day-in-the-life tale with a sneaky twist. “Guns and Cigarettes” lightens the mood with self-deprecating introspection over slinky jazz licks: What starts as a classic boast track ends with Slug coming to terms with his “status as a drifter”.

Artist Background: In the three years since Atmosphere's dropped a full length record on the world, they've been far from stagnant, staying at the top of their game in every respect. For the better part of two years, Atmosphere toured the globe in support of their critically acclaimed - and #5 Billboard Top 200 charting - album, When LIfe Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold. And in their "spare" time, the group returned home to Minneapolis in 2009 to record their 2010 double EP, To All My Friends, Blood ... Part of the Minneapolis, USA music scene. Emerged in the 1990s era. Associated with Hip-Hop movement. Known for Urban/R&B style.
