"Basement Apes" delivers a gritty hard rock sound that embodies the raw energy of early 2000s rock. The production is polished yet retains an edge, allowing the driving guitar riffs and powerful drum beats to take center stage. Tracks like "Brutus" and "Shotgun Seat" showcase a blend of aggressive tempos and melodic hooks, creating an infectious energy throughout the album. The instrumentation is characterized by thick, distorted guitars and punchy bass lines, while the vocals oscillate between gritty and anthemic, adding to the dynamic texture. Songs like "Easy Living" and "Not Enough for You" highlight a more melodic side, balancing the heavier elements with catchy choruses, making the album distinctive in its ability to fuse hard rock with accessible pop sensibilities.
