Originally released in the band's home market exclusively (the UK), the album sold very well, becoming the ELO's first Top Ten entry since Dino Record's compilation album The Very Best of the Electric Light Orchestra hit #4 in 1994. All Over The World sold over 300,000 copies in the UK alone within a year and a half of its release. The albums The Electric Light Orchestra, ELO 2, and Eldorado were not represented on the compilation. The album was repackaged with new album art and re released on 30 May 2011 once more reaching the UK top ten.

Artist Background: Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) were a British rock group from Birmingham who released eleven studio albums between 1971 and 1986 and another album in 2001. ELO were formed to accommodate Roy Wood and Jeff Lynne's desire to create modern rock and pop songs with classical overtones. After Wood's departure following the band's debut record, Lynne wrote and arranged all of the group's original compositions and produced every album.
