Description: Urd is the ninth full-length album by the Norwegian metal band Borknagar. It marks the return of vocalist/bass guitarist ICS Vortex as a permanent member, and is the second and last album by the band to feature David Kinkade; he recorded the drums as a full member of the band, but left for Soulfly before the release of the album, and is thus credited as a session player.

Artist Background: Borknagar was founded by a remaining member of the Norwegian death metal band Molested when then-member Ã˜ystein Brun became tired of the brutal aspects of the band's music. Ã˜ystein formed Borknagar to explore a more melodic outlet of expression, inspired by the burgeoning black metal movement Norway was experiencing and looking to push the boundaries of what was considered "traditional" black metal music.
