"Måsstaden" presents a dense tapestry of sound that intertwines progressive metal and djent elements, characterized by intricate guitar work and polyrhythmic drumming. The production is polished yet raw, allowing the heavy, down-tuned riffs to resonate with a visceral impact. Tracks like "Shadow" and "Dagger" showcase a dynamic range, oscillating between crushing heaviness and ethereal interludes, while pieces such as "Eternal Golden Monk" and "Phobon Nika" explore atmospheric textures with ambient layers. The tempo varies, creating a fluid energy that keeps the listener engaged. Distinctive for its use of unconventional song structures and a blend of melodic and dissonant elements, "Måsstaden" stands out as a compelling exploration of sonic depth and complexity.

Artist Background: Vildhjarta is a progressive metal band from Hudiksvall, Sweden. They play an aberrant Meshuggah-influenced djent style, characterised by harmonic minor progressions, jarring inharmonic staccato riffs, raspy whisper-screams interwoven with death growls, and layers of reverberant guitars. They were signed to Century Media Records in 2011. The band's name, Vildhjarta, originates from a Swedish edition of Dungeons & Dragons with the same name.
