It reached #50 on the U.K. Chart when it was released in October 1978. This followed the 4 track EP "Snakebite", later available as an import album, from continental Europe.
This album also features Coverdale's former bandmate Jon Lord from Deep Purple for the first time.

Artist Background: Whitesnake are an English hard rock band formed in London in 1978. The group was originally put together as the backing band for singer David Coverdale, who had recently left Deep Purple. Though the band quickly developed into their own entity, Coverdale is the only constant member throughout their history.
