Stronger Than Pride

London foursome Sade’s third album is a masterclass in nuance, a gossamer record rippling with their trademark smooth jazz and hushed vocals, all built on a foundation of understated, luxe production. That’s not to say each track doesn’t pack a punch, though: “Turn My Back On You” employs a voluptuous funk groove atop an effortless hip-hop beat, while “Love Is Stronger Than Pride”—with its glacial vocals—shrouds emotional barbs in delicate balladry.
