Cast spent the summer of 2025 holding down the dream gig for any Britpop-affiliated band, as the opening act for several Oasis reunion-tour dates in Europe and North America. And on their euphoric eighth album, the Liverpool veterans are intent on holding on to that arms-aloft sold-out-stadium feeling just a little bit longer. In contrast to the pared-down trio format of its 2024 predecessor Love Is the Call, the aptly titled Yeah Yeah Yeah bolsters Cast’s familiar jangle-pop foundation with cinematic strings and a small army of female gospel singers to make insta-anthems like “Don’t Look Away” and “Free Love” feel like you’re being draped in a Union Jack flag by your best mates as precariously hoisted lager pints rain down on your beaming face. But more than just keeping that mad-fer-it spirit of ’95 alive, Yeah Yeah Yeah reinforces the historical connection between British rock ’n’ roll and American soul music, with former Tina Turner backing vocalist P.P. Arnold adding some authentic funky flavour to the brass-powered hip-shaker “Poison Vine” and the gritty roadhouse boogie of “Way It’s Gotta Be”.
