Jurassic 5’s funky alt-hip-hop is in full flow on <i>Quality Control</i>, with their snappy drums, jazzy flavours and pass-the-mic brevity lighting up tracks like “The Influence”. Their outlandish flourishes add to the fun, too, best encapsulated by the cartoony orchestration that scores their critique of vapid showbiz culture on “W.O.E. Is Me (World of Entertainment)”. When they rap “Don't judge us by bank accounts and big cars” on “Lausd”, it confirms what we already knew: They do it for the culture.
