The Singles Collection, Vol. 2 contains CD replicas of the 13 singles Queen released between 1979 and 1984, a five-year span when the band was one of the biggest acts in the world. During this time they had several of their biggest hits -- "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "Another One Bites the Dust," "Flash's Theme," "Under Pressure," and "I Want to Break Free" -- and they're all here, along with their B-sides. This, of course, isn't the best way to listen to the singles; this is a package for collectors who enjoy the artwork as much as the music, and in that regard it's an attractive package even if it doesn't result in the most practical listening.

This almost overwhelming set of tracks situates Creedence Clearwater Revival as one of America’s most powerful hit-producing machines, and with good reason: The John Fogerty-led band were masters. It’s kind of hard to believe that the full sounds of “Fortunate Son” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” were produced by the rock counterpoint of just four dudes. Between the rambler’s odyssey “Proud Mary”, the sensual “I Put a Spell on You” and the structurally perfect “Lodi”, this album delivers 90 minutes of pure bliss.
