"Pinewood Smile" is the fifth studio album released by British hard rock band The Darkness. Produced by Adrian Bushby, released on October 6, 2017 and is the first album to be released by Cooking Vinyl. It is also their first album to feature Rufus Tiger Taylor on drums, after Emily Dolan Davies left the band in 2015.

As glam rockers who both love and lampoon their chosen field in equal measure, England’s The Darkness have made a career out of brilliantly hooky double entendres and falsetto vocals set to propulsive hard-rock guitar action. Their fifth album doesn’t stray from the formula: The ludicrously catchy, self-referential “Solid Gold” sounds like AC/DC on helium; the punk-flavoured “Southern Trains” offers a hilarious rant against a British rail company; and ballad “Why Don’t the Beautiful Cry?” is a spot-on spoof of mellow ’70s AM gold.
