Kasabian is the debut album by the British indie rock group Kasabian, released in September 2004 through BMG Records subsidiaries Arista Records and RCA Records. The album spawned four singles and rose to fourth place on the UK Album Chart. Different geographical regions had different colours for their album cover. The British version is black and white, the UK import is black and red, and the American version is black and blue. The Japanese 'Ultimate Edition' is silver (metallic) and white. The UK limited edition version is a DVD+ (DVD on one side , CD on the other) , and has a glow-in-the-dark cover. The DVD element contains a making-of documentary and several music videos. This album has been released with the Copy Control protection system in some regions. In the United States it uses the MediaMax CD-3 system.

With a name partly inspired by Tom Meighan’s Star Wars obsession and a fresh batch of unashamedly huge assaults on the senses, Empire initially looks like more of the same from Kasabian. But, beyond the glammy stomp of “Shoot the Runner,” the Leicester outfit’s second record contains fascinating multitudes. “Me Plus One” is a whirl of kaftan-clad psychedelia, “Stuntman” conjures a throbbing electronic rave and “British Legion” (featuring a rare lead vocal from Serge Pizzorno) is bracingly tender.
