Cloud Nine by George Harrison

Album cover for Cloud Nine - George Harrison

Cloud Nine is George Harrison's tenth studio album, recorded and released in 1987 after a five-year hiatus from his recording career. Including the hit single "Got My Mind Set on You", Cloud Nine re-established Harrison as a critically acclaimed and commercially significant recording artist. It is the last studio album released during his lifetime.

Recorded after a five-year break, George Harrison's 1987 album Cloud Nine was a widely acclaimed and successful return to pop music. Working with Beatles fanatic, future Traveling Wilbury and ELO founder Jeff Lynne gave Harrison the perfect ally for creating some of his tightest, catchiest tunes in years. "Got My Mind Set On You" captures the vibe perfectly—mixing '50s rock with modern production, and Harrison's own energised vocals. "When We Was Fab" is a tribute to his previous band, both in musical form and lyrical content. A total songwriting triumph, this would also prove to be Harrison's final studio album before his passing in 2001.
